USPHL Elite and USP3 Stars Shine Bright at Chicago Showcase

West Dundee, IL (December 22, 2016)- The USPHL Midwest Showcase wrapped up on Wednesday after four days of hockey that showcased teams from around the nation.
 
In the Elite Division, the Wisconsin Rapids Riverkings and Dells Ducks continued the strong play that each have exhibited all season. The Riverkings began on Monday with a 1-0 edging of the Steele County Blades. Tuesday saw them get by the River Falls Renegades, and they wrapped things up on Wednesday with shutout wins over the Detroit Fighting Irish and Forest Lake Lakers.
 
Similarly, the Dells Ducks posted a 4-0 record during the showcase. They started off with a tense win over Forest Lake on Sunday before dispatching River Falls on Monday, Steele County on Tuesday, and ending with a win over the Blaine Energy.
 
The Chicago Cougars gathered five points, opening the tournament with a win over River Falls. They fell to Forest Lake on Monday and Blaine in overtime on Tuesday, but the Cougars finished on a high note with a win over River Falls.
 
Blaine also picked up a win over Detroit on Monday, and Forest Lake were victorious in their tilt with Detroit on Tuesday.
 
Steele County finished with a bang on Wednesday, knocking off Blaine and Detroit.
 
In the USP3HL bracket, the Decatur Blaze helped narrow the gap with the first-place Traverse City North Stars thanks to wins over the Islanders Hockey Club, Jersey Hitmen, West Sound Warriors, and Seattle Ravens.
 
The Kalkaska Rhinos also churned out a perfect 4-0 weekend, knocking off the Hitmen, Tri-City Outlaws, West Sound, and Motor City Hawks.
 
The Eugene Generals impressed, going 3-0-1, starting with victories over the Alpena Flyers on Sunday and Motor City on Monday. The Generals picked up an overtime win on Tuesday against the Ironwood Yoopers but fell in a shootout to the Tri-City Icehawks to close out the event.
 
After the loss to Eugene, Alpena had a great week, edging the Islanders in overtime on Monday before beating Seattle and West Sound.
 
The Islanders bagged wins over Ironwood on Monday and Motor City on Tuesday, while the Hitmen knocked off Traverse City and the Icehawks, both on Tuesday.
 
Ironwood had a productive final day, as they won their tilts with the Outlaws and Traverse City to finish 2016 on a high note.
 
Traverse City started off with a win over the Outlaws on Sunday and Seattle on Monday.
 
Motor City opened with a win over Seattle to start their week, and the Icehawks knocked off West Sound on Monday before falling to the Outlaws in overtime on Tuesday.
