Van Dyke is a skilled Forward who was named co-captain on this past season's team and led the team in Points. A very talented and offensive minded Forward was a fan favorite and well liked among his teammates and coaches. Although there were numerous NCAA Division 3 programs and ACHA programs knocking on his door all season, Van Dyke ultimately decided to attend the school of his choice and the best fit for him and his game. Illinois State University is getting a well liked individual and highly sought after hockey prospect.
Van Dyke has been an integral part of the Cougars franchise over the last two years putting in his time during the inaugural season campaign as a 2nd and 3rd line Forward and PowerPlay specialist to blossom into what he is today and ultimately cemented his place into Cougars history leaving the program ranked among all-time players in nearly every category including 1st in Games Played (87), 1st in Points (83), 1st in Assists (52), 2nd in Goals Scored (31), and 3rd in Points/Season with 52 this past year (2016-2017).
"Through all the accolades and accomplishments with his offensive game, I think Andrew has matured as a person and hopefully gained some valuable lessons in these last couple years that will help him excel in college and playing college hockey. I am very proud of him for what he gave to this organization and his faith to join us in our inaugural season and I'm looking forward to hearing more about the records broken and the diploma he will earn at Illinois State University." said Head Coach Brad Stoffers
Illinois State competes in the ACHA and will be playing in the D1 division next season. They will look for Van Dyke to help them transition to the top level of ACHA hockey.
Congratulations Andrew Van Dyke!
