Austin Tonkovich (F) – Austin brings a winning pedigree to Rochester. Austin was a member of the U18 Pittsburgh Pens Elite team that won Nationals for the 2015-16 season and most recently a member of the Trenton Golden Hawks of the OJHL, which were the winners of the Dudley-Hewitt Cup for the OJHL. This past season, Austin tallied 10 goals and 20 assists in 49 games.
Billy McGwin (F) – The Rochester, NY native brings size, speed, and a physical presence to the Monarchs this season. McGwin comes in at 6’4” and can skate like the wind. This previous season, McGwin was a member of the Buffalo Jr Sabres of the OJHL.
Brendan Johns (F) – Johns, a 98’ birth year from Pittsburgh, PA amassed 38 points in 32 games in the Tier 1 Elite U18 league with the Pittsburgh Pens Elite team. Johns is a big body that obviously has a nice scoring touch.
Charlie Kiefer (D) – Kiefer is a nice two-way defenseman coming from the Tier 1 Elite powerhouse Ohio Blue Jackets. Kiefer is a very smooth defenseman that has great hockey IQ and can be utilized on the power play.
David Kompson (D) – Kompson, a Buffalo, NY native comes to the Monarchs from prep school power house Loomis Chaffee. Though a little undersized, Kompson does not play it and is a great shut down defenseman. Kompson will do anything for the team and will be a great guy to have in the locker room.
Logan Bateman (G) – Bateman, coming from The Holderness School, was recently named to the First Team All-East for the New England Prep School Ice Hockey Association. Bateman is a very balanced goalie that will battle day in and day out.
Logan Clarke (F) – Clarke is a very fast and shifty center man coming from the Cumberland Grads of the CCHL. Clarke brings a lot of veteran leadership having played at a high level of junior hockey already.
Max O’Herlihy (F) – O’Herlihy, a 98’ birth year from Selects Academy, is a big physical presence coming to the Monarchs. O’Herlihy not only brings size, but he brings great speed, skill, and compete. O’Herlihy is a nice all around player that will help the Monarchs win some big games this year.
Mike Kerbrat (F) – One word to describe Mike “Wiggle” Kerbrat, SPEED. This kid can fly. Don’t be surprised if you see at least one breakaway a game from Kerbrat. Wiggle comes from Deerfield Academy.
Trent Grimshaw (F) – The Monarchs first saw Grimshaw at their pre-draft combine, which was held in April. Grimshaw is a nice speedy forward that can make some very impressive plays. Grimshaw comes from the Tier 1 Elite Champions, Victory Honda U18, where they actually billet Rochester stand out Jake Tortora.
Viljami Kanerva (D) – Viljami is a big, shut down defenseman coming from Northwood Prep. Viljami, a native of Finland, comes in at 6’4” and has been working with former Rochester Americans (AHL) coach, Chad Cassidy.
Zikmund Mroz (D) – Mroz was a powerhouse defenseman from the EHL and was named to the South Conference 2nd All-Star team and was 2nd runner up for defenseman of the year. The 6’4” Czech native tallied 30 points in 42 games this past year.
The Monarchs will be 1 of the 11 founding members of the new NCDC division of the USPHL. The NCDC division of the USPHL is brining some of the best hockey players back East playing in front of top D1 and D3 schools in the country. The Monarchs will kick their season off the second weekend of September.
