2017 Kings of Summer Crowned at USPHL Showcase

Marlborough, MA - The USPHL held its annual Spring Showcase this past weekend at the New England Sports Center in Marlborough, MA, featuring forty-eight teams competing across three divisions.  On Sunday, July 16, three of those teams were named champions.

 

Hitmen win ncdc division

The Jersey Hitmen #2 team took the NCDC division title after rebounding from an opening loss to the IHC Blue team on Friday. Saturday saw the Hitmen shut out the CT Rangers Red team in Saturday’s early game and then beat Syracuse Stars Gray to clinch a spot in the Sunday playoffs. In the semifinals, the Hitmen picked up another shutout, this time over the PAL Jr. Islanders, and took home the trophy after winning the rematch with Syracuse Gray in the championship game.

 

IHC ORANGE SKATE TO JUNIOR/ U18 TITLE

The IHC Orange team wrapped up a perfect 6-0 weekend with a win over Syracuse Stars Premier in the finals of the Junior/ U18 division.

IHC Orange began the weekend with a win over the Junior Bruins Premier team on Friday. On Saturday, the team picked up wins over Springfield Pics Premier and PAL Premier. In Sunday’s playoffs, IHC Orange win a rematch with PAL Premier before edging the New Jersey Rockets 18U in the semifinal. This set up a rematch with Syracuse Premier, which ended 1-0 in favor of IHC Orange.

 

SKIPJACKS WORK OT TO WIN 16U DIVISION

The Skipjacks Hockey Club did not surrender a single goal on Sunday to claim the 16U Division championship at the 2017 USPHL Summer Showcase. The Skipjacks began with a 2-0 shutout over the Hitmen Futures on Friday. They fell to the Northern Cylcones 16U Black early on Saturday, but regrouped for a big win over the Cyclones 20U Red team in the late game. Sunday’s semifinal round saw the Skipjacks avenge their earlier loss to Cyclones 16U Black before knocking off the CP Dynamo in the championship game.
