The PAL Jr. Islanders NCDC picked up two wins out of the holiday break this past week at the USPHL Winter Showcase at the New England Sports Center.
On Saturday, Jan. 6, the Jr. Islanders defeated the Connecticut Jr. Rangers 5-3 behind three points from Adam Bricker. PAL took a 3-2 lead into the third, but the Jr. Rangers tied it up 3-3. PAL scored two unanswered though from Mario Tropea and Dustin Rinaldo.
Brandon Bussi stopped 29 of 32 shots in the victory for PAL.
Sunday, PAL fell to the Islanders Hockey Club 2-1 in a tough fought battle. Brenden Prappas tallied the game tying goal, however Mark Gallant scored the game winner early in the third.
In their finale, the Jr. Islanders were able to get past the South Shore Kings 3-2 in overtime. PAL took a 2-0 lead into the third, but saw that disappear with two quick goals from the Kings.
Prappas thought played here with little less than two minutes left in the extra session to give the Jr. Islanders the win.
PAL moves to 11-19-3 on the season and take on the New Jersey Rockets this weekend in Bridgewater, NJ.
