ESTERO, FL- The Florida Jr. Blades look to continue their two-game win streak coming off the 2018 Winter Showcase as they prepare to battle Florida Division opponents this weekend. The Jr. Blades picked up four points on the road, locking in fourth place in the Florida Division with a 11-15-4 record.
"I think we hit a few patches of adversity, but we were happy to see the guys keep pushing on,” assistant coach Tyler Carlston said. “With the remainder of our games against divisional opponents, we've got to be mentally tough and begin playing playoff style hockey."
Opening the weekend, the Jr. Blades will travel to the Daytona International Skateway on Friday to face the Daytona Racers at 5:54 p.m. This will be the third contest this season against the Racers who are 20 points behind the Jr. Blades (26 pts) in the divisional standings. The Jr. Blades split the previous series, each team winning one battle, held at Germain Arena.
On Saturday, the Jr. Blades will open a series against the Palm Beach Hawks on the road at the Palm Beach Skate Zone at 3:30 p.m. Both teams will then return to Germain Arena on Sunday for a 1:15 p.m. puck drop. The Jr. Blades have won two of the last four games against Hawks, who are third in the Florida Division with a 14-11-3 record.
Forward Hudson Grote (39 pts) leads the team in point totals with 17 goals and 22 assists. Grote has tallied four points in his last two appearances including two goals and two assists. Captain Evan Maxey (30 pts) is nine points behind with 12 goals and 18 assists.
