The Steele County Blades are proud to announce that Matt Colagiovanni has committed to play college hockey at Trine University in the fall. Matt just finished his first and only season with the Blades
The Marcellus, NY native played in 43 total games for the Blades after being traded from the Kasson Vipers in October. He scored 4 goals with an accompanying 37 penalty minutes. Matt played a hard two way game and was a great teammate
Head Coach Nick Adamek had this to say about Colagiovanni’s choice. “Matt came in early in the season and had a great attitude and a strong desire to work to be better in hopes of landing a college opportunity. I am proud to say that his hard work paid off. Trine is getting a committed player who will excel not only on the ice, but in the classroom as well. We couldn’t be happier for him.”
“I’m proud to announce my commitment to the Trine Hockey Program. I would like to thank my family, friends, and teammates that I have had throughout my hockey career that have pushed me and helped me get to this place. I especially want to thank Coach Adamek, my billets, Mike and Marge Steinbauer, and my teammates last season for an awesome experience. I had a great time in Owatonna, improved as a player, and as a person. I am excited to start my college education at Trine and look forward to playing at a higher level with the Thunder Hockey Program ” added Colagiovanni.
Trine University is located in Angola, IN, near the border of Michigan and Ohio. The Thunder have two hockey programs which compete in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) at the NCAA Division III level and the Great Midwest Hockey League (GMHL) at the ACHA Level.
Colagiovanni is the first Blade from the 2018-19 season to make his college commitment. More information on where other Blades will be headed will be available shortly.
