The GBL Boston Jr. Bruins are proud to announce the commitment of goaltender Connor Hasley to Bentley University for the fall of 2021. The Bentley Falcons play in the NCAA Division I Atlantic Hockey Conference.
“For me, Bentley seemed like the perfect fit,” said Hasley. “I felt at home when visiting, and during the whole visit I felt very comfortable with all the coaches. It's a great school academically, and has a great hockey program. It wasn't a difficult decision to make as it just felt right. I am very excited to join the program!”
The North Tonawanda, N.Y., native joined the Bruins last season after playing for the Buffalo Jr. Sabres and is currently finishing his junior year at the Northfield- Mt. Hermon School. On May 15, he was drafted by the first-year NCDC team the Twin City Thunder.
As a member of the GBL Jr. Bruins, Hasley backstopped the team to a third-place finish in the EHF Selects division of the USPHL and kept the team in the top 15 of the USA Hockey 18U national rankings for most of the season.
“I knew nothing about playing split season fall hockey in the Boston area. I had a great time on the team,” recalled Hasley. “I made my way to the GBL bruins when [Northfield Coach Kevin] Czepiel found me a spot on the team. We were a solid team and [Head Coach] Bret Tyler is a great coach that helped make us a successful team.”
Playing for the Northfield Mt. Hermon Hoggers this past season, Hasley posted a tremendous .938 save percentage and 1.37 goals against average in 28 games and set a school record with eight shutouts. With Hasley in net, the Hoggers qualified for the NEPSAC Elite Eight tournament and he was awarded All-NEPSAC East honors.
Congratulations to Connor and the Hasley family.
