The Detroit Fighting Irish have gone pretty low actually all the way down under to acquire their newest recruit Sebastian Woodlands.  Woodlands is a 2000 goaltender whom hails from Adelaide Australia. The Irish staff had an opportunity to watch Woodlands during the 2018-2019 season as he completed his secondary (High School) career at A21 academy prep school in Windsor under the tutelage of Coach Rob Servicss. He is also a member of the Australian National Team.

"The Irish program is very pleased to have Sebastian Woodlands to become part of our program and that we will be part of his continued development and we are also excited that Coach Serviss whom has grown the A21 prep academy program to international prominence in a few short years assistance helped to Woodlands to make the Irish his choice to continue his development." Woodlands has aspirations to play at the collegiate level upon completion of his Junior career.

The Irish staff and ownership met with Woodlands during the Spring and after a few long distant conference calls with the Woodlands family it was clear to all involved that the Irish program would be the right training program and would be able to provide a strong preparatory regiment for Woodlands whom will participate in the World Championship in January of 2000

Woodlands and his Detroit Fighting Irish Team mates are preparing for the 2019 USPHL Season opener this Saturday against the Toledo Cherokee. The two teams will face off at the Toledo Ice House at 7:30 pm . The game wil be broadcast on Hockeytv   www.hockeytv.com
