The USPHL 18U and 16U full-season teams were out in full force at the Hitmen Classic, especially on Saturday.
After opening with five games on Friday, the 18U and 16U Divisions represented the majority of games played at the Classic, held annually on Columbus Day weekend at the Ice Vault in Wayne, N.J.
There are still full Midget schedules ahead for Sunday and Monday at the Classic.
Friday, Oct. 11
USPHL 16U Division
Palmyra Black Knights 3, Jersey Hitmen 1
Cole McCulley scored two goals, sandwiching Isaiah Croft’s GWG. Collin Kerrigan made 26 saves on 27 shots for the win.
Carolina Jr. Hurricanes 6, Islanders Hockey Club North 2
Chris Kennedy scored a hat trick as the Jr. Hurricanes, an Affiliate Member at the 16U level, earned their first-ever USPHL 16U victory.
Cyclones Academy Elite 6, Charleston Colonials 2
The Cyclones got four-point games from both Billy Dougherty (two goals, two assists) and Liam Hanna (goal, three assists).
USPHL 18U Division
New York Aviators 2, Jersey Shore Whalers 1
The Aviators needed just first period goals from Elan Gan and Luke Savov to support the 38-save winning effort by John Clancy in net.
Somang Hockey 2, Islanders Hockey Club 1
Liam Fortin and Mathieu Roux scored the goals to help the Terrebonne, Que.-based Somang Hockey to its first-ever league win as a USPHL Affiliate Member.

USPHL 16U Division
Carolina Jr. Hurricanes 8, Cyclones Academy Elite 5
The Cyclones had a short turnaround, starting with the first game on Saturday morning. Carolina came out of it with the victory, pushed by two-goal efforts from Kennedy, Chase Williams and Alexander James.
Islanders Hockey Club North 4, Potomac Patriots 3
Patrick O’Hara scored two goals, including the game-winner with 17 seconds remaining, answering two third-period goals from Potomac.
Charleston Colonials 2, Connecticut Jr. Rangers Red 1
Continuing the theme of late game-winning goals, Garrett Albers scored the deciding tally with 19 seconds left to send his Affiliate team to its first-ever USPHL win.
Junior Bruins 5, Palmyra Black Knights 2
Josh Schonland scored a hat trick and added one assist to propel the Junior Bruins to their third straight win to begin the season.
Rockets Hockey Club Grey 3, New York Aviators 2
The Rockets earned their third straight victory to improve to 4-3-0-1, thanks in part to the second period game-winner from Aidan Gallagher.
P.A.L. Jr. Islanders 7, Carolina Jr. Hurricanes 1
Joseph Ariola scored one goal and added four assists, and the Islanders also got three-point efforts from Leonardo Capri, Brandon Fox and Ryan McKenna.
Islanders Hockey Club North 1, Charleston Colonials 1
Kenneth Tompkins was the hero in net for the Colonials withstanding a 50-shot barrage, and letting up just one from Chris Free. Braden Owen scored for the Colonials.
Islanders Hockey Club 5, Jersey Hitmen 1
Jason Hurford, Tanner Freed and Michael Szymanski each had one goal and one assist, and Colin Androlewicz made 36 saves on 37 shots for the W.
Potomac Patriots 3, Cyclones Academy Elite 0
Michael Shelley Jr. stopped 45 Cyclones shots, and Aiden Sullivan scored two goals - the first and third - to give the Patriots their first victory.
Philadelphia Hockey Club 4, Junior Bruins 3
Four different goal-scorers helped the PHC to a victory in a battle of two teams tied for first place. Jason Player scored the game-winning goal.
USPHL 18U Division
Jersey Hitmen 5, Islanders Hockey Club 0
The Hitmen got goals from five different skaters, and John Werber and Cameron Holbrook shared the shutout victory. The win put the Hitmen at 5-1 to tie the Skipjacks Hockey Club for the lead in the 18U Division’s National Conference.
New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs vs. Somang Hockey
Jason Gordon scored two goals and added three assists, and Matt Horan also scored four points.
Junior Bruins 6, Jersey Shore Whalers 2
Mitchell McKay and Tyler Wilson each had two-goal games to give the Junior Bruins their first league victory of this 2019-20 season.
