USPHL Elite: South Region Players Of The Week

By USPHL Staff/ , 11/27/19, 6:45PM EST

Congratulations to this trio of Players Of The Week from the Florida and Southeast Divisions of the USPHL Elite.

Forward: Will Cundy, Potomac Patriots

Hosting the New York Aviators from the Mid-Atlantic Division worked out very well for the Patriots, who picked up two much-needed victories in a row.

A prime mover for the victories was the ‘02 from Manassas, Va., Will Cundy. He posted two goals and two assists in the first game and added two more assists in Sunday’s game.

That gave him six of his current 10 points.

Defense: Brady Burke, Richmond Generals

The defending USPHL Elite champs are the early favorites to repeat, given they have a six-point lead overall and more than 10 points on teams from outside the Southeast Division. The team just continues to reload, including bringing in an ‘03 like Burke, an ‘03 from Denver, Pa., who jumped from the USPHL 16U Division’s Palmyra Black Knights to the Elite Division this year.

Burke earned the game-winning goal on Sunday, and had three assists on Saturday.

With his 15 points, he is the fifth most productive blueliner offensively in the USPHL Elite.

Goaltender: Nick Bernstein, Richmond Generals

Bernstein (‘01/Valley View, Ohio) is a frequent member of the Players Of The Week club, because he’s just that good. The leader in all major goaltending categories in the USPHL Elite, Bernstein rattled off two more big victories last weekend against the Charlotte Rush. Along with a 23-save shutout in Game 1, he stopped 43 of 44 on Sunday for 66 saves on 67 shots for the weekend.

He improved his save percentage to .959 and his goals against average to 1.20, continuing to stand truly alone as the best goalie in the USPHL Elite Division.
