Congratulations to this trio of Players Of The Week from the North and Mid-Atlantic Divisions of the USPHL Elite.

Forward: Ryan Andrews, Jersey Hitmen

When you’re in the USPHL Elite Division’s Mid-Atlantic Conference, just winning that conference title will be enough to send you on to the USPHL Nationals. With a 15-point lead on their closest competition, each win for the Hitmen right now is one more step closer to clinching that Nationals berth with games to spare.

Andrews (‘01/Oakland, N.J.) helped the Hitmen earn two wins over the New York Aviators, officially making it impossible for that team to overtake them at the top. Andrews scored four goals and added one assist in the decisive Saturday win, and then three more assists in Sunday’s closer 5-3 decision. All told, it was an eight-point (4-4-8) weekend for Andrews.

Defense: Matt Bucci, Rockets Hockey Club

Bucci (‘01/Piscataway, N.J.) helped the Rockets pick up a pair of wins against the Junior Bruins, which is very important as the Rockets do still have a chance - albeit a longshot - to catch up to the Hitmen.

Bucci posted two assists during the two victories, played solid defensively and was a +4 for the weekend. He now has two goals and five assists for seven points in 32 games.

Goaltender: Sean Caswell, Rockets Hockey Club

Caswell (‘02/Middletown, N.J.) earned his first victory of the season when he stopped 35 of 36 shots against the Junior Bruins to help the Rockets in their quest to push for a run towards the top of the division, which brings with it an automatic berth to Nationals.
