Toledo Picks Up Weekend Sweep Over Lansing

Toledo OH:         The Toledo Cherokee picked a two game sweep this past weekend during a home and home series with the Lansing Wolves.

On Friday, the Cherokee skated away with a 6-3 victory on home ice. Paavo Sammalisto (Virrat Finland) scored twice, Justin Maroszek (Sylvania OH) had a goal and two assists, Anthony Weinrich (Toledo OH) chipped in with a goal and an assist. Reese Boehme (Temperance MI) and Kieran O'Connell (Allen Park MI) both had goals for the Cherokee. Alex Miller (Sylvania OH), Bryce Davis (Elmore OH), Caleb Williams (Genoa OH), Bailey Byrd (Wyandotte MI) and Jacob Ford (Trenton MI) all had one assist to help lead the Cherokee.

Mason Snyder (Sylvania OH) picked up his tenth win of the season making twenty-nine saves for the Tribe.

"I thought we played really well on Friday, we were able to jump on them early and get the lead which lead to the victory." Said head coach Kenny Miller

On Saturday the Cherokee traveled to Lansing and defeated the Wolves by a score of 5-3. Tyler Fox (Marshall MI) and Maroszek both scored twice for Toledo. Ben Mitchell (Whitehouse OH) scored and chipped in two assists in the win. Weinrich had three assists while Davis, Zeth Stelmaszak (Temperance MI), Blake Petterle (Gross Ile MI) and Ondrej Dupal (Liberec Czech Republic) all had one assist.

Chad Simmerman (Silver Spring PA) made twenty-two saves to get the win in net for the Cherokee.

"Saturday was a good solid road win for us, we had to battle the ice issues, starting late and a few other obstacles and we were still able to come out on top." Added Miller

The Cherokee return home this Saturday to host the Columbus Mavericks in the 5th annual "SAP" Memorial Game. Face off is set for 7:00PM
