The United States Premier Hockey League is proud to announce three new Affiliate Members of its USPHL 18U and USPHL 16U Divisions for the 2020-21 season.

Joining as Affiliates at the 18U level will be the NPU RebelsDes Monts Academy and CSJV Dragons, while the NPU Rebels and CSJV Dragons will also field 16U teams in limited USPHL league games and showcases.

All three teams are based in the province of Quebec in Canada, continuing the USPHL’s expansion north of the border that has also seen Somang Hockey join the Midget Divisions as Affiliate Members in this 2019-20 season. All three teams are also members of the Prep School Hockey Federation in eastern Canada.

The NPU Rebels are the Midget team that is attached to the Northern Pre-University, a Grade 12 school that helps push Quebecois students to a university education at a faster rate. They also have online courses for younger students, allowing the NPU Rebels to also field a 16U team.

“We are based out of Laval, Quebec. Next season will be our eighth season,” said Daniel Deschatelets, Director of the NPU Rebels program.

The NPU Rebels play in Place Bell, the home to the American Hockey League’s Laval Rocket, the top farm team for the Montreal Canadiens. The NPU Rebels are past competitors at the Fall Beantown Classic, and they finished with a 4-0 record in the 18U Division last October.

Des Monts Academy is the hockey team associated with Polyvalente Des Monts School in St-Agathe-Des-Monts, Que., located roughly one hour and 15 minutes north of Montreal.

The CSJV Dragons operate out of the College St-Jean Vianney in Montreal Est (East Montreal). They also played in the 2019 Fall Beantown Classic, at the 16U level, going 2-1-1.

The proximity of the three new Affiliate Members to each other - one hour apart at the most - will allow USPHL teams that want to play them on a road trip to get games in against all three. The Affiliate Members will also participate in the 2020 Fall Beantown Classic as well as other USPHL Midget Division events in the 2020-21 season.

“We want to go to more and more games in the United States, as some of my kids are already being recruited or are already booked for the NCDC next season,” said Deschatelets, appointed as spokesman for all three Affiliate teams. “We want to expose our players to the National Collegiate Development Conference in order to provide them opportunities to play at that level in the future.”

The USPHL is excited to welcome the NPU Rebels, Des Monts Academy and CSJV Dragons to the USPHL Midget Divisions for the 2020-21 season and wish them the best of luck next season.
