Congratulations to this trio of Players Of The Week from the North and Mid-Atlantic Divisions of the USPHL Elite.

Forward: Aleksis Burkits, Springfield Pics

Burkits (‘02/Latvia) has been on a year lately, and that includes a four-point weekend against the New York Aviators. He posted a 1-1-2 line plus a shootout goal on Saturday, and he came back with two goals in Sunday’s 5-3 win. He has four multi-point games in his last four and an active nine-point, five-game scoring streak.

Overall, Burkits is third on the Pics in scoring with 39 points in 33 games.

Defense: Hunter Meyer, Northern Cyclones

Through Feb. 9, Meyer (‘01/Las Vegas, Nev.) and the Cyclones we’re kept mighty busy, playing five games in the first nine days of the month. Meyer registered a 1-5-6 line so far in February. At 40 points in 37 games, he is just one point behind Springfield’s Luc Fricchione on the Elite defenseman scoring leaderboard.

Goaltender: Dylan Sheets, Northern Cyclones

Sheets (‘00/Louisville, Colo.) is chasing Richmond’s Nick Bernstein in all Elite goaltending categories, including wins. At 15, he’s just two back of the Richmond keeper.

He is on a four-game winning streak including W’s this month against the Junior Bruins and the Boston Bandits. He’s stopped 43 of the last 47 shots he’s faced. In 19 appearances this season, he’s given up more than two goals just four times, and never more than four in a game.
