2020 USPHL 16U National Playoffs: USPHL 16U National Playoffs: Teams Jockey For Position On Friday

Rockets Hockey Club 4, Utica Jr. Comets 1 

Merrimack College recruit Michael Rubin scored a goal and added two assists to lead the Rockets to the first 16U win in Springfield, Mass. Also chipping in with multiple points was Eric Bush and Stepan Kuznetsov. Nicholas vonKaufmann posted 38 saves on 39 shots. 

 

Islanders Hockey Club 4, New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs 3 (OT)

Nick Marino scored the overtime game-winning goal to give the Islanders their first win of the tournament, as the Monarchs came up with a point. Colin Androlewicz was strong in net with 42 saves on 45 shots. 

 

South Florida Hockey Academy 6, Connecticut Jr. Rangers Blue 3

Blake Andreoni posted two goals and one assist as the leading goal-scorer for South Florida in their mid-afternoon victory in Springfield. Riley Rosenthal had one goal and one assist, and Kasper Soini rang up three helpers. 

 

Jersey Hitmen 3, Skipjacks Hockey Club 2

Benjamin Friedman scored one goal and two assists, including on the eventual game-winner at 13:47 of the second by Kyle Barber. Anthony Maurice was also the beneficiary of a Friedman feed. Jack Fialkoff got the win with 34 saves on 36 shots. 

The Skipjacks made a valiant effort, scoring both of their unanswered goals in the third. 

 

Junior Bruins 2, Palmyra Black Knights 1

Jack Silich scored a pair of goals and Mike Salvatore turned away 34 of 35 shots faced for the big first victory for the Junior Bruins. 

 

Philadelphia Hockey Club 4, Northern Cyclones Academy Premier 3

Colin Ogborn scored two of PHC’s four goals, and All-Star Jason Player scored the game-winner with 40 seconds left on the clock in this Friday evening thriller.
