The Northern Cyclones are extremely excited to announce that NCDC defenseman Bryce DeFazio has committed to play college hockey at SUNY-Geneseo.
DeFazio joins NCDC teammate Zach Rehbaum with the Knights. Rehbaum committed to SUNY-Geneseo earlier this month.
DeFazio had a career season with the Cyclones in 2019-20. Serving as captain, DeFazio displayed terrific leadership. He helped guide the Cyclones through a season filled with adversity.
He tallied seven goals this past season, tacking on 27 assists for a career-high 34 points. In 90 total games with the Cyclones, DeFazio scored 24 goals and finished with 52 points.
“Thank you so much for everything! I wouldn't be who I am or where I am without this organization believing in me,” DeFazio said after committing. “I'm a proud Cyclone alum for life.”
Acquired from the Jersey Hitmen early in the 2018-19 season, DeFazio was part of a Cyclones team that made history in the 2019 Dineen Cup Playoffs.
They became the first ever eight-seed to win a playoff series in the NCDC. They eliminated the Founder’s Cup Champion Jersey Hitmen 2-0 in the Quarterfinal.
The Cyclones finished as the sixth seed this past season. They were set to visit the Junior Rangers in the first round of the playoffs prior to the cancellation of the postseason due to COVID-19.
The Cyclones were the gold standard when it came to collegiate advancement in 2019. The organization advanced the most players from the junior ranks to the NCAA, sending 17 players to college hockey. DeFazio is the next in a long line of Cyclones over the past 15 years to go play in college.
