The Springfield Pics are proud to announce that 1999-born defensemen Matthew Gerst has committed to Framingham State University for the fall.
A native of Los Altos, Calif., the 5-foot-10-inch, 21-year-old Gerst scored three goals and four assists in 78 season games with the Pics organization.
The Framingham State University Rams play in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC).
“Matt is a solid stay at home defenseman who takes pride in shutting down the opposing team’s top offensive players,” said Head Coach Mike Bailey of the Rams. “ He sees the entire ice well and makes great decisions with the puck. Matt’s great attitude and team-first approach will be a welcome addition for the Rams.”
“Matt Gerst is a steady defenseman who holds his position well and has shown constant improvement every day through hard work, determination, and self-evaluation through video review. We know he will excel with his college career with these key skills,” said Premier Head Coach and GM Robert Bonneau.
