DECATUR, Ill. – The Decatur Blaze, proud member of the United States Premier Hockey League, today announced the signing of forward James Hannum for the 2020-21 USPHL season.
Hannum is a 2003 birth year out of Hazel Green, Ala., and comes to the Blaze from the Hazel Crest High School varsity team, where the First Team All-Area and All-Conference standout scored 18 goals and 22 assists for 40 points last season.
“I chose the Decatur Blaze because of the team's work mentality and how the staff prepares the team for the next step, whether that's playing college or just overall making us better men,” said Hannum. “I felt that if I put the work in, they can help me become the player I strive to be.”
In Alabama, ice and practice time were at a premium, but in Decatur, Hannum looks forward to the practice and development time with the Blaze.
The Blaze coaching staff, led by coach-GM Zac Pearson, can't wait to start to working with Hannum to develop his potential to attain his goals.
“I look forward to being part of the Blaze not just for winning, but for the work put in to help me reach my goals in life,” said Hannum.
