The Northern Colorado Eagles are proud to announce that Swedish defenseman, William Andersson, has committed to Chatham University's NCAA hockey program for the 2020-2021 season.
The experienced blueliner has spent the past two seasons with the Eagles organization. The Vasteras, Sweden native is coming off his best season of junior hockey. He was able to accomplish hitting career highs in assists and points, with 14 and 16 respectively.
"I'm very excited to get the opportunity to play at the next level. My past two seasons with the Eagles have taught me a lot both on and off the ice. I want to thank Coach Haddon and the rest of the Eagles organization. I really feel that I'm prepared for the next step in my career", said Andersson, reflecting on his time in Northern Colorado.
The veteran defenseman played 81 games in his junior hockey career, spending two seasons with the Eagles organization. In that time Andersson recorded 2 goals along with 27 assists for 29 points.
"William put a lot of time and effort into learning and growing during his time here. Coming over from Sweden and adjusting to junior hockey, as well as the North American style, was not an easy transition but he stayed with it and overcame every challenge that came his way. The second half of the season, William was really coming into his own and played some of his best hockey. His ability to adjust and adapt will be key for the next phase of his hockey career. I know he will be successful at anything he puts his heart into. Myself and the organization would like to thank him for all his hard work on and off the ice, as well as in the community. We wish him all the best in his next chapter," said Head Coach and GM Steve Haddon.
The Eagles organization would like to wish William all the best in the upcoming season.
The Eagles main camp will start August 26th. The Eagles will then open the regular season on September 18th vs arch rivals the Ogden Mustangs when the 2020-2021 season kicks off.
