In between Showcase events, the Midwest Region will be busiest of the four corners of the USPHL Premier in this mostly light USPHL Premier League weekend.
The first Midwest game of the week was an interesting one as the two Metro Jets affiliates – MJDP from the Midwest-East and MHC from the Great Lakes Division, faced off at Fraser Hockeyland. Daniel Miscavish earned his second shutout and holds a 2-0-0-1 record as MJDP won 4-0.
Another Great Lakes battle will see the 4-2 Columbus Mavericks and 4-0 Pittsburgh Vengeance engaging in a home-and-home weekend, at Alpha Ice Complex near Pittsburgh Friday, then back at OhioHealth Chiller North Saturday night.
The 4-1 Lake Erie Bighorns will visit Team Toledo Ice House to take on the 6-0 Cherokee Friday and Saturday as well.
The Chicago Cougars will remain on the road, meeting Motor City Hockey Club for games on Friday and Saturday at Redford Ice Arena.
In the Midwest-West Division, the Rochester Vipers will visit the Riverkings for Friday and Saturday night encounters at South Wood County Recreation Center and the Hudson Havoc will travel to the Four Seasons Center in Owatonna to play the Blades Friday then return home to the Hudson Civic Center Saturday to face off against the Minnesota Mullets.
The Florida Eels and Florida Junior Blades will tangle again, the Blades hosting at the Hertz Center in Estero on Friday, then making the trip to the Fort Myers Skatium for the return match Saturday.
In Southeast Division play, the Richmond Generals make the trip to Xtreme Ice to face the Charlotte Rush Saturday night and again Sunday at noon.
The final two teams of the five-team Mountain division will make their season debuts this weekend. The Utah Outliers will enter the fray with Friday, Saturday, and Sunday games against the Pueblo Bulls at Pueblo Ice Arena. The Provo Riverblades play their USPHL (and home) opener at Peaks Ice Arena against the visiting Ogden Mustangs on Saturday.
USPHL Elite Division
The USPHL Elite League includes four games this weekend, beginning with a Thursday night test at Hertz Arena in Estero as the Florida Jr. Blades hosted the Florida Eels, with the Eels winning 7-2.
The return game in that home-and-home series will be played at the Fort Myers Skatium Saturday night.
Meanwhile in the Southeast Division, the Richmond Generals will be at Xtreme Ice to play the host Charlotte Rush Saturday and Sunday.
