Decatur invades Detroit, sweeps Motor City in two straight games over weekend

REDFORD, Mich. - The Decatur Blaze went on the road to the Detroit area this past weekend and swept the Motor City Hockey Club in two straight games from the Redford Ice Arena.

Friday night, Stepan Skvirskii posted four goals and an assist and Dominik Didzerekis scored four goals (both players pictured) in a 9-1 win for the Blaze.

Austin Floyd added a goal and an assist, captain Cody Wilson and Frankie Gregorini three assists each and Devon Campbell tacked on two helpers.

Tanner Rusnak took the win in goal.

Then Saturday night, Skvirskii went for three goals and four assists in a 12-2 win.

Floyd added a goal and three assists, Justin Reddy and John Weber chipped in a goal and two assists each and Peter Van-Iterson took the win between the pipes.

Wilson, Gregorini, Alex Randall and Trevor Colberg all had a goal and an assist and Didzerekis and Jeff Shirkey also scored. 

Campbell added two assists in the victory.

This weekend, the Blaze host the Fort Wayne Spacemen for three games at the Decatur Civic Center. Game times are 5 p.m. Friday, 7:30 p.m. Saturday and noon Sunday.
