For the last set of games to end the year 2020, the Wisconsin Rapids Riverkings headed to the USPHL’s Chicago showcase sporting a 14 game winning streak. Their first game was a hard fought battle but unfortunately fell 3-5 to the leagues top rated and  undefeated Metro Jets. But for the next 3 games, the Riverkings were back and stronger than ever, beating the Lake Erie Bighorns 3-2, the Wooster Oilers 4-3 and a top 10 rated Toledo Cherokee 6-4. This weekend saw the majority of the proven faces of the team take charge and lead the team to victory. Captain Cole Creger scoring 5 points this weekend. Alternate Captain Nathan Bottles had a hattrick against Wooster for 4 goals and assist this weekend. Rookies Grant Newcomer and Trey Zagrzebski both tallied 6 points, followed closely by Rookie Sander Willard who had 5 points with defenseman Jordan Stear, Jake Jakusz and Trenton Skaggs leading the way with multiple points.
Now at the end of 2020, with the team going into a 2 week holiday hiatus, the Riverkings sit in a tight race for first place with a suburb 21-3-1 record in the USPHL Midwest. The team returns After the new year January 8th and 9th in Wisconsin Rapids at the South Wood County Rec Center, with the puck drop at 7pm both nights against the Minnesota Mullets.
