January 2021 USPHL Elite Players Of The Month: North Region

North Division 



Grady Fagan, Northern Cyclones 

Fagan (‘01/Pittsburgh, Penn.) Enjoyed a busy and productive month, playing in 13 games with 10 goals and 22 points. He fired two goals on three separate occasions with a four-point contest against the New York Aviators on Jan. 29 and he collected at least a point in all but two games.


Matthew Balzano, Bridgewater Jr. Bandits 

Balzano (‘02/Hanover, Mass.) scored six goals and collected 11 points in seven games with the Bandits in January. He fired a pair against the Junior Bruins on Jan. 18 and the Springfield Pics, Jan. 23 and he has been a welcomed addition to the team since joining in mid-December.



Jason Melanson, Islanders Hockey Club  

Melanson (‘02/Clarence, N.Y.) put up eight goals and 16 points in January with the Isles, hitting the scoreboard in all but a pair of games and notching the game winner on three occasions.  He notched two goals against the Jersey Hitmen Jan. 7 and the Aviators on Jan. 16.




Connor Cognac, Springfield Pics 

Cognac (‘02/Belchertown, Mass.) played in six games with the Pics in January, scoring six goals and picking up a dozen points. Two of those goals and four points, including the game winning goal, came against Bridgewater on Jan. 24 and Cognac also fired a hat trick against the Islanders on the final day of the month.


Matthew Warrington, Islanders Hockey Club 

Warrington (‘02/Merrimack, N.H.) scored twice and picked up 13 points in 10 games with the Islanders in January. He collected at least a point in nine contests, notching a goal and assist against the Northern Cyclones on Jan. 13 and the Bridgewater Junior Bandits on Jan. 20.




Cameron Schnopp, Springfield Pics 

Schnop  (‘02/Westfield, Mass.) played in three games for the Pics and he won them all, surrendering just six goals on 135 shots for a save percentage of .956 and a goals agains average of 2.00. On Jan. 30 he handled 39 shots to collect a shutout win against Bridgewater Jr. Bruins.



Mid-Atlantic Division



Jason Lastra, Rockets Hockey Club

Lastra (‘00/Rutherford, N.J.) scored seven times and picked up 13 points in just six games with the Rockets in January. Against the Jersey Shore Whalers on Jan. 16, Lastra fired a hat trick and wrapped up the night with six points. 



Matthew Emmer, Rockets Hockey Club 

Emmer (‘02/Ramsey, N.J.) notched two goals and six points in six games with the Rockets including the game winner against the Jersey Shore Whalers on Jan. 10. He had two-point efforts against the Whalers on Jan. 16 and the Jersey Hitmen on Jan. 30.


Angelo DePinto, Jersey Hitmen 

DePinto (‘03/Florham Park, N.J.) scored six goals and collected nine points in 11 games with the Hitmen in January. Two of those goals came against the Rockets HC on Jan. 24 and he added a goal and assist in two games in the first month of the New Year.




Max Toomey, Rockets Hockey Club 

Toomey (‘04/New Providence, N.J.) fired four goals and added three assists in six games with the Rockets in January. In one weekend set with the Jersey Shore Whalers, Jan. 16-17, Toomey led the charge with five assists.



Nick Jervas, Rockets Hockey Club 

Jervas (‘01/Atco, N.J.) provided a great tandem with Toomey, with a goal and three helpers in six January matches. Against the Htimen on Jan. 24, Jervas notched a pair of assists. 




Salvatore Benvenuto,  Jersey Hitmen 

Benvenuto  (‘02/Toms River, N.J.) Benvenuto did his best to backstop the Hitmen through a rough month, picking up just one win in five starts despite stopping all but 15 of the 136 shots he faced.
