The Northern Cyclones organization is thrilled to announce that USPHL Premier defenseman Tommy Buis has committed to play his college hockey at Post University. Buis will join the Eagles and begin his college career next season.
A native of Holland, Mich., Buis is in his first season with the Cyclones organization. He has played in 31 games this season for Premier, scoring 12 points (3-9-12). Prior to joining the Cyclones, Buis spent the 2019-20 season in the NOJHL with the Soo Eagles.
“Going into my age-out year, I was looking for a place to go that would allow me to continue playing hockey at the NCAA level,” Buis said, after officially committing on Feb. 11 while competing in Hub City Tampa. “The Northern Cyclones were that place. Since Day 1 coming to Hudson, Coach [Bill] Weiand worked to find everyone a place to play college hockey. I am very appreciative of the support and help that Coach Weiand and the rest of the Northern Cyclones provided me throughout this process.”
Buis and Cyclones Premier are 24-8-1 so far this USPHL season, and sit third place in the New England Division. The Cyclones wrapped up their six-week Hub City Tampa stay with a 4-0 winning streak.
“I also want to thank the Flanagan family for providing me a great place to play with all the tools needed, even in this crazy time,” Buis continued. “I can’t wait to continue my hockey career as a Post Eagle!”
Buis is the third player this season from Premier to commit. He joins captains Ben Peterson (Saint Anselm) and Oscar Richardson (Lebanon Valley College).
