Burke on playing for the Generals , " I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to play for the Richmond Generals this season. I believe that R.C. , Haz,  Lenny, along with the entire training and support staff are the best coaches I have had in my career so far. The staff pushes you day in and day out to be the best hockey player and person you can be. I was a new player in the program this year but the coaches expected me to be a leader because of my past Junior experience in a couple of other places prior to Richmond. The players and staff on the Richmond Generals bring energy and fun to the team and that's what I loved the most. The Richmond Generals culture is all about family and supporting each other day in and day out. We battled through a lot of adversity this year both on and off the ice as a family and that is what enabled us to have such a successful year. I had a blast this season and truly enjoyed every second of my time in Richmond and I have nothing but respect and love for this program, the coaches, and the players. I truly believe that the Richmond Generals are one of the top teams in Junior hockey because of the culture they have created that holds their players to very high standards while making them accountable day in and day out in everything they do. I want to thank R.C., Haz, Lenny for everything they did for me this year to develop me, and get me to the next level. I am very honored to be continuing my athletic and academic career at Ohio University to study Aviation Flight!"

Coach Bell on Burke, " We are very excited about being able to add a student-athlete of Jake’s character to our team next year. We have very high expectations on the impact he will make on our program. After Jake visited with our team, all of my leaders immediately came up to me saying how impressed they were with him. At the end of his visit he went around to shake everyone’s hand, thanking them all for showing him around campus and what Ohio University is all about. We already knew Jake was a very talented hockey player and one we are confident will step right into our lineup and make us better on the ice. More importantly, as we went through the recruiting process, we got to know Jake as a person and were even more impressed with how he carries himself off the ice. This young man has a bright future ahead of him and we are looking forward to being a part of his development.”

Jake becomes the 5th current or former Generals Player to commit to a College hockey program for next year. Jake joins Matt Wood ( Utica College NCAA Division 3 ) , Brennan Luckanish ( Arcadia NCAA Division 3 ), Ryan Murphy ( William Paterson University ACHA Division 1 ), Will Grupp ( George Mason University ACHA Division 1 ).
