Forward: Miles McCue, Utah Outliers
McCue (‘02/Plano, Texas) registered a highlight reel backhand goal on Saturday in the Outliers’ win over the Provo Riverblades, and set up another goal in a loss to Ogden on Friday. The two-point weekend gave him 11 points in 16 games.
Defense: Deven Boldway, Ogden Mustangs
Veteran leadership paves the way as the second-year Mustang rang up two assists and defensively helped the Mustangs to defeat the Salt Lake area rivals the Utah Outliers on Friday night by a 4-1 score. Boldway has eight points through 11 games for 2021-22.
Goaltender: Savva Serdiuk, Ogden Mustangs
A 2004-born import from Ukraine, Serdiuk stopped 25 of 26 shots against the Outliers to take them off what had been a 10-0-2-0 points streak. Serdiuk improved to 6-1-0-1 on the season with a 2.25 goals against average.
Forward: Rihards Mertens, Lake Tahoe Lakers
Mertens (‘01/Riga, Latvia) put together a four-goal, four-assist weekend in the Lakers’ three-game visit to Long Beach. He has now scored 36 points in each of his 13 games, one of the league’s best overall point streaks. The highlight was a 2-2-4 game in the 6-4 win on Friday in Game 2 of the three-game set.
Defense: Charles-Emile Duciaume, Fresno Monsters
The veteran Duciaume put together a 1-3-4 run during the Monsters’ 2-0-1 three-game set against the Las Vegas Thunderbirds. A 2003-born native of Mashteuiatsh, Que., he now has 13 points in 17 games for the Monsters in his second season.
Goaltender: Filip Plars, San Diego Sabers
Plars (‘01/Stockholm, Sweden) put together a pair of wins to help the Sabers to a two-game sweep of the Ontario Jr. Reign. He stopped 66 of 69 total shots on the weekend, first stopping 34 of 36 in a 3-2 win, and then 32 of 33 the next night in a 3-1 Sabers victory. He improved his save percentage to .910 on the season.
