Southeast Division

Forward: Michael Reed, Charlotte Rush

Since the start of the new year, Reed (‘01/Knoxville, Tenn.) has been on a tear, scoring six goals and adding one assist. This is all part of an active six-game scoring streak that has seen him post 9-2-11 over that stretch going back to the USPHL Florida Showcase on Dec. 18. Reed now has 18 points in 20 games. 

Defense: Drake Semrad, Richmond Generals

The recent SUNY-Oswego commit - he’ll be heading there along with teammate Lex Friesen - Semrad (‘01/Middleton, Wis.) put up two goals and two assists in the team’s stand at the USPHL Winter Showcase. He now has 22 points in 32 games. 

Goaltender: Trevor Gilson, Hampton Roads Whalers

Gilson (‘03/Phoenix, Ariz.) made quite the impression in his USPHL Premier debut, after four previous games this year with the Whalers’ USPHL Elite team. On Jan. 9, he stopped 24 of 25 shots to defeat the much-improved Potomac Patriots for his first Premier victory. 

Florida Division

Forward: Jonah Mortenson, Tampa Bay Juniors

Mortenson (‘02/Champlin, Minn.) scored the game-winning goal in the Juniors’ win against the Bridgewater Bandits, and added four assists for Tampa in their trip to the USPHL Winter Showcase. That put him well above a point per game average now with 28 points in 24 games. 

Defense: Eric Hambling, Florida Eels

Hambling (‘02/Fort Myers, Fla.) put together a goal and five assists for the Eels as they went 2-1-0-1 at the USPHL Winter Showcase. He was also a +7 and had two blocked shots. He improved his points totals to 15 in 27 games. 

Goaltender: Salvatore Carabelli, Florida Jr. Blades

Up in Marlborough, Mass., at the USPHL Winter Showcase, Carabelli (‘02/Shelby Township, Mich.) went 3-0 including a relief spot in which he stopped all 19 shots for a comeback victory against Fort Wayne. He also shut out Decatur with 22 saves. All told on the weekend, Carabelli stopped 51 of 53 shots on goal as the Jr. Blades left with a 4-0 record at the event.
