Columbia Infantry Announces Entry To USPHL Premier, Elite Divisions For 2022-23

By Inferno Staff, 03/11/22, 9:30AM EST

The expansion Columbia Infantry are proud to announce they will be fielding teams in both the Premier and Elite divisions of the United States Premier Hockey League starting with the 2022-23 season.

The Infantry are set to play out of Flight Adventure Park located in Irmo, S.C., with new locker rooms, office space and equipment rooms. Excitement is building for the start of the season.

Community relations will be a vital part of the success of the Columbia Infantry program. With a strong military presence in the Columbia area, the Columbia Infantry name was born. Sand, Beige, Black and Green will be the primary colors for the Infantry. In addition to military relations, the Columbia Infantry has already begun working with the local youth hockey organizations and the Columbia Cyclones. Infantry players and staff will work closely with the Cyclones to help development both on and off the ice.

"We are excited to bring the USPHL to the Columbia market. We would like to thank Brenshon Stovall, Ryan Petz, the entire Flight staff, and the Columbia Cyclones board for welcoming us to their home. The Infantry will play a major role in youth hockey development and advancement as well as serve the community of Columbia in a positive way. Our on-ice product will be something the community will be able to rally around and be proud to support,” said nfantry Ownership

This will be the first junior team to hit the ice in the Columbia market. Recent renovations for the Infantry will make Flight Adventure Park a destination for aspiring junior hockey players.

“Flight Irmo is thrilled the Columbia Infantry will be making our ice rink their new home! We are looking forward to this partnership, and what this will bring to our hockey community. We are excited to be a part of this amazing addition and look forward to celebrating the team and their successes," said GM Brenshon Stovall.

A vital part of the success of the Infantry will be the host families that house our players. These players serve as big brothers for younger siblings, help around the house and give families an opportunity to open their homes to aspiring NCAA athletes.

The Columbia Infantry are currently seeking potential coaches, players, volunteers, interns, and host families. For more information on the Columbia Infantry or to become a member of the Infantry family please e-mail
