The United States Premier Hockey League is proud to announce that six former USPHL players, all with 10 or more games played in the league, were drafted by NHL teams at the 2022 NHL Entry Draft on Friday, July 8, on Day 2 of the draft.

This began with the second pick of the day, when the San Jose Sharks drafted former Boston Junior Bruins (NCDC) player Cameron Lund.

After that, history was made when Mats Lindgren, formerly of the Chicago Cougars, was drafted in the fourth round. He thus became the first USPHL Premier alum to be drafted in the NHL since the 2017-18 reformulation of the USPHL junior ranks that saw the creation of the Tier II Tuition-Free NCDC.

Three of the four NCDC alumni from 2020-21 who were drafted Friday all have their future NCAA plans set for the same destination: Northeastern University. Both former Junior Bruins Cameron Lund and Jackson Dorrington (selected by the Vancouver Canucks in the sixth round, 176th overall) and former Utica Jr. Comets goaltender Cameron Whitehead (selected by the Vegas Golden Knights in the fourth round, 128th overall) are future Huskies teammates.

One additional NCDC alum, Hunter McDonald, was selected by the Philadelphia Flyers in the sixth round, 165th overall. McDonald is also a Northeastern University recruit, and he played in 21 games for the former Rochester Jr. Monarchs in the NCDC's 2019-20 season.

Tyler Muszelik represents alumni of the USPHL Midget ranks. He was selected in the sixth round, 189th overall, by the Florida Panthers. Muszelik played for the Rockets Hockey Club's 16U Black team, which was the organization's 15U team playing in the USPHL 16U American Division in 2019-20. He is committed to the University of New Hampshire.

Congratulations to all of our #USPHLAlumni who were selected in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.
