Foxboro, MA – The Islanders Hockey Club won the inaugural Boston Bragpot defeating the Boston Jr Bruins 5-4. Nathan Ferriero was named the MVP of the championship game scoring the IHC’s third and fourth goals of the day and blocked a huge point shot with seconds remaining in the game. Matthew Schneider was named MVP Goaltender of the event with two wins in two games.
The title win gives the IHC seven wins in a row, yet things will not slow down as they host the Bay State Breakers on Wednesday and then travel to New Jersey Friday for three games on the weekend.
In addition to Ferriero, Islanders goals were scored by Eric Berglund, Liam McDermott, and Ross Olsson. The Islanders advanced to the title game with a win over the South Shore Kings last Tuesday in a shootout. Mitch Allen recorded the lone goal for the win in the shootout as Matthew Schneider stopped all three shots he faced.
The Boston Bragpot in its inaugural year drew many college and NHL scouts. The event featured the four Boston-based USPHL Premier teams including the IHC, Jr Bruins, South Shore Kings, and Bay State Breakers.
