Wayne, NJ - The Jersey Hitmen are proud to announce that Premier center man James Martello has committed to Colorado College for the fall of 2015. Martello is a model of one of the Hitmen core values, perseverance. As part of the Hitmen organization for 5 years, Martello climbed the organizational, developmental ladder. James played on 18UAAA team, Empire Jr B team and then graduated up to the Premier club last season. A hard-nosed center, Martello was known more for his defensive game in 2013-2014. Putting up an 11-21-32 scoring line in 48 games played, Martello excelled at winning draws and killing penalties. This past summer, Martello got into the gym early, transformed his body and that lead to immediate dividends on the ice. A two time USPHL all-star, Martello has already eclipsed his scoring line from last season in a big way. In 40 games this season, Martello sits 15th in USPHL scoring with a 15-23-38 scoring line, and has been an integral part of the power play with Lake State recruit Josh Henke on the IR.

"James, myself and coach Hunt sat down with James after the 2013-2014 season," said coach Toby Harris. "The message to James was clear. You need to take your off ice training more seriously to take your game to the next level and he did just that. I knew that if his spring and summer training was as intense as his fall and winter training with the team, and it mirrored his practice and game intensity, he would attain his childhood dream of playing division one college hockey." Harris continued, "I cannot tell you how happy I am, and the organization is for James and his family. He and they stuck by us. Listened to what we had to say about his game, strengths and weaknesses, and followed the blueprint to success. In this day and age of people leaving spots for 'greener pastures' and empty promises in other places, James' intestinal fortitude, work ethic and character paid off big time. Coach Haviland, Riley and Enga are getting a top notch player and more importantly a great character kid in James. I know he will flourish in Colorado Springs!"

Colorado College is a member of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) and play out of the World Arena in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Martello will join fellow Hitman, defenseman Ben Israel at CC next season.
