By Brett Bruneteau, 07/25/15, 10:45AM EDT

The Syracuse Stars placed two teams in the Summer USPHL Showcase. Both teams progressed to the playoff round on Sunday, with Syracuse Stars Red remaining undefeated in the preliminary round, while falling to PAL Islanders Premier in the quarter final rounds. The Syracuse Stars Gray defeated the NJ Hitmen Futures and the PAL Islanders Premier in the semis. Syracuse Stars Gray met the Islanders Hockey Club Premier in the Championship game, where they were overcome 2-1.
“When assembling a Premier team for the first time in a competitive league like the USPHL, it is great to have a test like the USPHL Summer Showcase. It is great to see where we are as an organization so that we can fine tune and evaluate what we still need to meet our goals for this upcoming season,” commented Paul Kelly, Head Coach Syracuse Stars Premier and U-18.
The USPHL Premier league placed over 75 players to the DI NCAA hockey ranks this past season. The Syracuse Stars are very excited to announce that we are bringing a USPHL Premier team to Syracuse beginning this 2015-2016 season, the highest level of junior hockey in the history of Central New York.
The Syracuse Stars have a proven track record of placing players.
This past season, prior to adding a team in the Premier division, players  from the Syracuse Stars 2014-2015 Elite team are headed to Connecticut College, Norwich, Endicott College, SUNY Potsdam, SUNY Cortland, and Suffolk University. From the U-16 team, players committed to Yale, Boston University, and the U-18 US National Development Program.
The 2015-2016 season will mark the 30th anniversary season of the Syracuse Stars Junior Hockey program. The Syracuse Stars are the oldest Junior Hockey organization in the United States, still operated by original ownership. Alumni of the Syracuse Stars include: Dustin Brown (Captain of LA Kings), Brian Gionta (First American Captain of Montreal Canadians, Asst. Capt. NJ Devils, Current Capt. Buff.
