Stamford, CT- The Connecticut Jr. Rangers are proud to announce the commitment of Premier defenseman Bryan Nelson to the University of Connecticut for the 2016-17 season. The UConn Huskies play in the prestigious Hockey East conference.

The Shrewsbury, MA, native joined the Rangers after the Winter Showcase and played for the West Kelowna Warriors at the start of the season and contributed three assists in 31 games.

In four games with the Rangers, Nelson has scored one goal and recorded one assist.

“Bryan brings a physical edge to the team that we will need as we head into the final stretch to the playoffs,” said Rangers head coach Vinnie Montalbano. “More importantly, he has been a leader for every team that he has played for. He’s a great student and he very much deserves the opportunity to play at UConn and in Hockey East.”

Nelson will join former Rangers goaltender Steve Thulin on the Huskies next season.
