The United States Premier Hockey League (USPHL)is pleased to announce the Boston Bandits, Northern Cyclones, New Jersey Rockets, Hartford Jr. Wolfpack, New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs and Connecticut Nighthawks will leave the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) and join the USPHL for the 2017-18 season.
It is anticipated the combination of the existing USPHL teams and the incoming EHL teams will aggregate more than 400 NCAA-committed players under the USPHL banner. The EHL organizations will bring six Premier and five Elite Junior teams to the USPHL in addition to full-season 16U and 18U midget teams, consolidating the best operators in the Northeast into one entity. The Bandits, Cyclones and Rockets will also be charter members of the National Collegiate Development Conference when it launches next year.
“This further clarifies a hierarchy for players and parents when considering the path to NCAA ice hockey,” said USPHL Commissioner Jeff Nygaard. “We’re honored the six organizations are choosing to continue their operations in the USPHL.”
