Junior Bruins Announce NCDC and USPHL Open Camp Dates

By Junior Bruins Staff, 02/21/17, 10:00AM EST

The Junior Bruins are proud to announce open tryout camp dates for our NCDC, Premier and Elite USPHL levels for the 2017-18 season.
The camp will take place at the New England Sports Center in Marlboro, MA April 14th-15th and is open to all interested players born between 1997 and 2001. Each player will skate in a minimum of 3 games. 2 teams of players will be selected for an All Star game Saturday afternoon which will conclude the open camp selection process. Each player will be able to meet with a member of the Bruins coaching staff during the weekend to discuss their opportunity with the Bruins in person.
For specific open camp time and registration information please visit the Bruins website
NCDC Head Coach Mike Anderson is looking forward to the evaluations, “We’re really excited about the open camp. Every year a player comes to camp that you either didn’t know much about or that really surprises you. That’s the fun part. In the past some of those players have gone on to do great things in our program. Alex Brink (Brown, ECAC NCAA D-I), Clay Han (Dartmouth, ECAC NCAA D-I), Ian Milosz (Boston College, Hockey East NCAA D-I) are just a few recent examples of those types of players. Our staff has done an enormous amount of work identifying potential players for not just our top NCDC team but also for our Premier and Elite teams and we’re really looking forward to the process of rounding out these rosters and getting started with our summer programs”.
The NCDC selection process will not end with the open camp in April. Later in the month the league will have a main draft (eligible for 97-00 birth year players who haven’t already tendered with a NCDC team or haven’t been protected as a returning player within a USPHL organization).
The Bruins will also host a mid-summer NCDC Main Camp in Marlboro. Those dates are set for July 18-20 at the New England Sports Center. Interested players should contact coach Anderson directly, 508-820-1600 x106. Additionally the Bruins will participate in the USPHL Spring and Summer Showcases and those events are often used as yet another opportunity to evaluate potential players for any one of our junior teams.
Over the last 3 seasons the Junior Bruins Premier team has compiled a 106-29-0-6 record in USPHL play, a .752 winning percentage. Additionally over that time the organization has seen 72 players from their junior program alone commit to NCAA College hockey. 26 Division I players and 46 Division III players. Many of those 46 Division III commitments have come from the Elite and USP3 levels. Next year that will become the Premier and Elite levels within the USPHL. Players like Tyler Mathieu came to the Bruins from Holderness Academy in 2014, was a captain with the Bruins Elite team and is now a captain in only his 2nd season at the University of Southern Maine.
The Junior Bruins look forward to seeing all interested players at camp in April. Go Bruins!
