ESTERO, FL- In a battle of former Florida Jr. Blades alumni, Matthew Cuce and Blake O’Neill will face last year’s USPHL Player Of The Year Tyler O’Mara when Elmira College takes on King’s College tonight at 6:55 p.m. in Pine Valley, New York.
“This is another exciting day for FJB alumni with Tyler at King's College playing against Matty and Blake at Elmira!” said head coach Todd Pococke. “These are three great players to come through the FJB family and also great guys. Good luck to all of them today!”
O’Neill dawned the Jr. Blades uniform for 41 games during the 2011-12 season where he dominated as a defensive powerhouse and tallied 34 points including 13 goals and 21 assists. The Fort Myers native was recently named captain of the Soaring Eagles after a standout sophomore season where he played 23 games and tallied nine points including three goals and six assists.
Cuce wore the Jr. Blades sweater for one season in 2014 where he posted 73 points before advancing to play with the Purple and Gold in 2016. Since the start of his sophomore season with the Soaring Eagles, Cuce has already been named Athlete of the Week by Elmira and the inaugural UCHC Player of the Week after he scored two goals, including the game-winner in the programs contest against Hobart College.
O’Mara signed with the King’s College Monarch Hockey Club after playing with the Jr. Blades for two seasons, including last year’s 2016-17 USP3 Championship season. O'Mara collected honors including USP3 Player Of The Year, USP3 Forward Of The Year and Star Of The Week for his outstanding play during the week of November 21, 2016.
