Pierce on playing for the Generals," I was very fortunate to be able to live at home and play for such a top notch organization like the Richmond Generals. I had some very solid Tier 2 Junior A offers in Canada last season and decided to stay home and play my last year here for the Generals program because of their excellent track record of College placement for their players. The Generals program offers its players all the tools and resources to get you the opportunities

to play at the next level. Coach Lyke and Coach Hasenzahl are some of the most passionate and dedicated coaches you will ever meet. They truly care about their players and their development as a player on the ice but more importantly as a young man off the ice. It has been a pleasure to grow up and develop as a player and young man in this program.I have really enjoyed my time as a Generals player and have built lasting friendships and memories that I will always have for the rest of my life. I am extremely grateful to the Generals program for giving me the opportunity to accomplish my goal of playing NCAA college hockey."

Coach John Coughlin on Pierce," Worcester State University is excited about having Zach in our program. After watching Zach over the course of this season and the last few years I am very confident his aggressive and physical style of play will be a perfect fit for our system. In addition his physical presence and grit matches the model that we have established for the program , pushing the pace and playing the body . Equally important is the energy he brings to creating scoring opportunities for himself and teammates every time he is on the ice."

Coach Lyke on Pierce," This commitment is a very special one not only for me but for our program. Zach has basically been with the Generals since the beginning and it is a great feeling to see him accomplish his goal of playing NCAA college hockey. I have seen Zach grow from a young boy into a man in our program both on and off the ice over the last 5 years. Zach has a great work ethic ,is extremely tough, versatile and has one of the highest compete levels of any player I have had the pleasure to Coach. He is a warrior plain and simple and he will do whatever is required to help his team win or be successful always. Zach understands the game and how it is suppose to be played on both sides of the puck . He is a great two way forward with good skill that can play with top players and produce points . Zach is excellent on special teams and has always excelled on the penalty kill and power play for me. He is an extremely versatile player who has the ability to play any forward position and defense as well. One of Zach's best attributes is his ability to out compete and win his 1 on 1 and lose puck battles all over the ice at all times. I expect Zach to a very effective player and leader both on and off the ice for the Lancers for the next 4 years. "

Zach becomes the fourth Generals player to commit to a College hockey program for next season. He joins fellow Generals teammates Cameron Sangster ( Becker College NCAA Division III ), Mike Curran ( Aquinas College NAIA ), JT Kossakowski ( Southern New Hampshire University NCAA Division II ).
