Falter becomes the Cyclones Premier 10th Commitment of the 2017-2018 Season. Congratulations to Billy on his achievement!

The Northern Cyclones Premier team is proud to announce their 10th college commitment of the 2017-2018 season. Billy Falter committed to Salem State University for the fall of 2018.

Billy is in his first season with the Northern Cyclones and the 1998-born forward came to the Cyclones after playing a season with the Middlesex Black Bears last year. Before the Black Bears, Falter played four years at St. Johns Prep in Massachusetts where he won the MIAA Super 8 Championship his junior season. Falter came to the Northern Cyclones this year so he could be seen by more colleges and get his chance of playing college hockey.

So far this season the Wilmington, MA native has a stat line of 11-13-24 in 43 games. Billy is currently eighth on the team in points and sixth in goals. Billy has seen time on the Cyclones special teams, especially on the penalty kill, where he has logged big minutes for Coach Weiand.

The physical forward is considered a two-way player who plays with an edge and can make an impact on a game in many different ways. Falter plays a tough 200-foot game and there are games where he might not put the puck in the net but will do other things to help his team win.  He will be looking to bring his maturity, dedication, work ethic, and his ability to the Vikings line up next season.

When Premier Head Coach Bill Weiand was asked about Billy he had this to say; “Billy is a pleasure to coach, because of how hard he plays each and every time he is on the ice. Salem State is getting a very dedicated and impactful young man”– Coach Bill Weiand

Salem State University is a state university in Massachusetts and they compete in the MASCAC, which is one of the most competitive D3 conferences in the country. The hockey team is currently 6-9-3 in the MASCAC and 10-11-5 overall this season.

When asked about his recent commitment and time with the Northern Cyclones Billy had this to say;

“I am excited to announce my commitment to Salem State University. I cannot thank Bill Weiand and the Cyclones organization enough for the support and opportunity they have given me this season.”

“Coach Weiand taught me that hard work really pays off. I would also like to thank my family for all the support throughout the years. I couldn’t have done it without them. I want to thank my teammates and prior coaches for making this possible and a fun journey. I am looking forward to attending Salem State University and playing for Coach O’Neill next season. Go Vikings!”

The Northern Cyclones would like to congratulate Billy and his family on this great accomplishment and wish them the best of luck in the future.
