The New York Aviators are proud to announce that 1998 Defenseman Hal Gemignani (Houghton, MI) has committed to NCAA Division III Finlandia University of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA).
In 40 games with the Aviators, Gemignani netted 7 points to go along with 136 penalty minutes.
“We are extremely excited for Hal and sad to see him go at the same time,” stated Head Coach Mike Stanaway. “We have been saying around here that Hal is the type of player that is a bit of a dying breed. He plays the game on the edge and does an excellent job holding himself and his teammates to a high standard. His skating ability and defensive style of play should make him very effective in the NCHA. As a fellow UP native, I am eager to see his impact on the Finlandia program."
Gemignani will be forgoing his final year of junior eligibility to join his hometown team. He represents one of 9 NCAA commitments this year for the New York Aviators and 5 that will be going to the NCHA Conference.
