By Northern Cyclones Staff, 05/04/18, 10:45AM EDT

Congratulations to 1997-born forward, Thomas Dyreng on his commitment to Becker College for the fall of 2018!

The Northern Cyclones USPHL Elite team is proud to announce their 1st college commitment of the 2017-2018 season. Thomas Dyreng has committed to Becker College in Worcester, MA. This is also the 13th college commitment for the Cyclones Premier / Elite teams for the 2017-2018 season. The 1997-born forward came to the Cyclones two years ago from San Jose, CA after a successful high school career. In year one with the Cyclones, Dryeng fought for playing time for most of the season and earned his opportuntiy to play in 34 of the 44 league games. He finished his first season with a stat line of 3-2-5.

With Thomas expected to return this past season, the coaching staff made sure he knew what the expectations were. The staff wanted to see Dyreng improve his skating, get stronger and make a jump to be more productive. The staff always made it clear to Thomas that the expectation was for him to get an opportunity with the premier team.

When the team reported back in early September, Thomas proved to the coaching staff that he made the improvements during the off-season. Thomas was stronger, faster, and ready to make an impact from day one.

This past season, Thomas was named captain of the USPHL Elite team for his leadership on and off the ice. He also practiced every day with the USPHL Premier team and also saw some game action. He had a stat line of 27-42-69 in 47 USPHL Elite games. Thomas is considered a two-way forward who competes on every shift and has the ability to make plays consistently. He is player who will do everything he can for the player sitting next to him.

Becker College is a private university in Worcester, MA and they compete in one of the toughest Division 3 conferences in the nation, the Commonwealth Coast Conference. Becker went 3-15-0 in conference and 5-18-1 overall this past season. Becker will be expecting Thomas to have an impact right away, like he did for the Cyclones.

The Northern Cyclones would like to congratulate Thomas and his family on this great accomplishment and wish them the best of luck in the future
