The Minnesota Moose proud members of the United States Premier Hockey League are excited to announce that 1997 Defenseman Nate Ackerman from Wilmar, MN has committed to play hockey at Gustavus Adolphus College an NCAA D3 team out of Northfield, MN which plays in the MIAC.
Nate Ackerman this season was both a force in the defensive zone and a threat in the offensive zone finishing with 40 points in 52 games played which included a total of 14 goals and 8 being power play goals. Ackerman also was a plus 47 on the year. Ackerman was one of 4 players to compete in all 44 regular season games and all 8 playoff games.
Coach Blake Mendenhall had this to say about Nate Ackerman committing to Gustavus Adolphus, “Nate was one of the hardest working players on the Moose last season day in and day out. He helped set the culture of what we want Moose hockey to be on and off the Ice. It was a pleasure to watch him develop in to a great 2-way defenseman last season. Gustavus is getting a great addition to their hockey program.”
“I’m very excited to be able to continue my dream of playing collegiate hockey next year at Gustavus College. Since I can remember I’ve always wanted to play hockey at the NCAA level and I have finally achieved that which makes me very happy. I couldn’t have done it without the support of my parents, who have been my biggest fans since day 1. I also would like to thank the Minnesota Moose program. Coach Jonasson and Mendenhall took me in and made me apart of a big family and we accomplished so many things that if I would have been anywhere else my life would look a lot different today.” From Nate Ackerman
Nate Ackerman is the fifth Moose player to commit to college this season, with more to come. The Minnesota Moose take pride in being one of the most premier programs in advancing players to the next level whether it be NCAA, ACHA, NAIA or Tier 2 juniors.
