The Academy’s Teams expand the USPHL’s presence into Canada

Newbridge Academy and the United States Premier Hockey League (USPHL) jointly announced today that Newbridge’s 14U, 16U and 18U teams have joined the USPHL and will play in the 2018-19 season.

Based in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada, Newbridge Academy was founded in 2007 with a vision to provide a school that would offer both academic and athletic excellence. Newbridge Academy started its first year with 36 students and a small hockey program.  Now, 11 years later, it is an accredited private school with over 300 students and home multiple Tier 1 Boy’s and Girl’s Hockey Teams as well as competitive baseball, soccer and golf programs.

The USPHL members have each developed a complete player development model where at present over 10,000 boys and girls train, compete and enjoy the sport of ice hockey.   These programs go beyond the on-ice experience to include education, leadership and community service components to help foster a complete student athlete. Paralleling the USPHL Development Model, Newbridge Academy’s hockey program focuses on player development as its number one goal for each athlete. This development combines traditional on-ice practices with off-ice strength and conditioning and yoga. We also strive to develop the player’s character to prepare them to reach their goals. Combined with our enriched academics, Newbridge Academy players graduate from school ready to succeed.

“We are very excited to be joining such an established league. We want to be able to give our players the most exposure not only to scouts, but also to high level competition. By joining the USPHL, we are able to offer that to them. As we begin our fourth year of our Tier 1 competitive hockey programming, I feel that this is best next step for our organization,” said Olivier Filion, Athletic Director for Newbridge Academy.
