The Detroit Fighting Irish announced today that Christopher Hays will return to the Irish for the 2018-2019 Season. This will mark the 3rd season for the 2000 6 ft defenceman with green and gold. Hays in his first two seasons earned a reputation as a feisty competitor that plays the game with a chip on his shoulder and last season played in 40 games for the Irish putting up 77 PIMS in the process. GM Dan Vasquez is predicting that this season will be a break out season for Hays as he expects that Hays will embrace and has matured into a blue liner that will be comfortable in exploring his offensive capabilities. "When we signed Hays our expectations were that over time he would step into an offensive role on the blue line for us however to compliment Chris as a player he stepped into a defensive role that we had not planned and has done a pretty good job. I think he is ready to take his game to a new level and with his shot , speed and ability to find open space he will be a player to watch every night."
Hays recently graduated with honors from High School will also take classes at the University of Toledo this season as far as the future after Juniors , Hays makes it clear he just wants to continue developing his game as well as his academics so that when the right opportunity comes to play at the next level he will be ready.
