ESTERO, FL- The Florida Jr. Blades organization, head coach Todd Pococke and assistant coach Tyler Carlston are proud to announce that captain Evan Maxey has committed to play for the 2018 ACHA Men’s Division 2 National Champions, the Florida Gulf Coast University Eagles for the upcoming 2018-19 season.
"We're very happy for Evan signing with FGCU. Evan has come a long way over the years and we're very proud of him,” said Pococke. “He was a great leader as a 3-year captain and would do anything for his teammates.”
Maxey ended the Jr. Blades 2017-18 season collecting Premier Southeast/Florida Player Of The Week for his outstanding play posting 11 points including six goals and five assists during the week of February 11, 2018.
At 6-foot-three, 205 pounds, Maxey played 157 regular-season games and 24 playoff games throughout his Jr. Blades career. During the 2016-17 season, the big-bodied forward led his teammates to the USP3HL Championship. Over his 181 games played, Maxey recorded 146 points including 71 goals and 75 assists.
“Maxey really became a high-end player who could put up points, but also took pride in his defensive play,” said Pococke. “We wish the best of luck to him!"
