Congratulations to this week’s new group of the top performers, your NCDC Players Of The Week.
Forward: Ilya Federov, New Jersey Rockets.
The ‘02 from Russia had a goal in each game as the Rockets earned the weekend sweep of the Connecticut Jr. Rangers to move into sole possession of third place. He has had four goals in his last three games, and as an ‘02, he is starting to get comfortable with the pace and is learning how to compete at this level.
Defense: Ty Schafer, New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs
Schafer (‘99/Clark, N.J.) has been an intricate part of the success of the Monarchs NCDC team’s run of three straight wins and four wins out of their last five games. He was +5 for the Monarchs over the weekend, and had a goal and three assists while playing forward and defense. On an injury-plagued Monarchs team right now, he has logged some of the highest Time On Ice (TOI) per game numbers on the team. He was a USPHL Premier player last season, so he is really taking advantage of the chance to prove himself in the NCDC.
Goal: Yaniv Perets, Boston Junior Bruins.
Yaniv Perets (‘00/Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Que.) played all 120 minutes this past weekend for the dominating Junior Bruins, who are now 10-1 overall. Perets gave up just two goals allowed over the weekend against the South Shore Kings, and shut the Kings out with a 28-save performance on Sunday for the 2-0 victory. Through 10 games and 548 minutes, Perets is 9-1, and holds a 1.75 goals against average and a .948 save percentage.
