Central Massachusetts will be the epicenter of the hockey world in the Northeastern U.S. this weekend.

The Beantown Classic will see 120 teams at several different levels competing from the very start on Thursday, Oct. 25, through its ending on Monday, Oct. 29. The vast majority of games take place at the eight-sheet New England Sports Center in Marlboro, Mass., with additional games at Navin Arena (also in Marlboro), NorthStar Ice Sports in Westboro and the Worcester Ice Center.

The entire National Collegiate Development Conference will be a part of the event, with each NCDC team playing three games apiece. The first NCDC game at the Fall Beantown is in the books as the Bandits defeated the Islanders Hockey Club, 1-0. The final NCDC game at the event will be Monday’s P.A.L. Jr. Islanders vs. Syracuse Jr. Stars game with puck drop at 1 p.m. Monday.

The No. 1 Tier-2 team in the country, according to, will be the proud host. The Boston Junior Bruins will take on the South Shore Kings at 11:40 a.m. on Friday, the P.A.L. Jr. Islanders at 2:40 p.m. Saturday and against the New Jersey Hitmen at 3:10 p.m. on Sunday.
Fifty teams are competing in the 18U Tournament, and there is a large mix of the USPHL’s full-season 18U Division and the split-season EHF Selects divisions. The No. 1 ranked 18U team, the Boston Jr. Eagles, start Friday at 7:10 p.m.

They also play Saturday at 9:30 a.m. and at 3 p.m. the same day. That third game will be played against fellow EHF Selects member Top Gun 18U. The play-by-play call for that second Saturday game will be delivered by The Dan K Show’s Dan Kmiechick and Lucas Jones.

There are 17 USPHL league games in the 16U and 18U Divisions being played during the Fall Beantown Classic. There will also be nine EHF Selects league games contended at the event.

There are also games being contested between EHF Selects and USPHL Midget teams, including the Saturday game between the Eastern Mass. Senators and P.A.L. Jr. Islanders at 12:20 p.m., also with play-by-play from The Dan K Show.

After their two Midget games that day, The Dan K Show will also call the NCDC Boston Bandits vs. New Jersey Hitmen game at 5:30 p.m. Saturday and finish their busy day with the NCDC Game Of The Week between the Rochester Jr. Monarchs and South Shore Kings at 8:20 p.m.

There will be champions crowned in each of three divisions - 18U, 16U and a combined 14/15 Division. Playoffs begin on Saturday and continue on Sunday.

The 14/15 final will be played on NESC Rink 3 at 11:50 a.m. Sunday. The 16U final will be played at 12:50 p.m. on Sunday, immediately followed by 2 p.m. on Sunday - both of those games will be played on NESC Rink 1.

The USPHL wishes all of its teams the best of luck at this major hockey event for the fall season, the Fall Beantown Classic!
