Foxboro, MA - The South Shore Kings NCDC improved to 10-8-0 on the season with a weekend sweep over the New Jersey Rockets.
On Saturday evening, the Kings got a stellar performance from goaltender Cal Wilcox (Pomfret, CT). Wilcox turned aside all 42 shots, including 22 in the final period. Chris Lee (Troutman, NC) opened the scoring for the Kings in the 2nd period at 6:23 off a Daniel Dlabaja (Zlin, CZE) pass. Five minutes later, Alexander Schemel (Belarus) put one by Rockets goaltender Travis Allen low blocker from the high slot. Allen was also strong in net, turning aside 30 shots but it wasnt enough as the Kings shutout the Rockets 2-0.
Sunday, newcomer Devin Lowe (Owings Mills, MD) opened the scoring unassisted. The Rockets answered with a shorthanded goal late in the 1st period to tie the game. With under 10 seconds remaining, Chase Best (Plymouth, MI) hit Chris Lee with a strech pass who then fed it to Matt Hayes (Salem, NH) for his 4th goal of the season. Quinn McCarthy (Dorchester, MA) would give the Kings a two goal lead early in the 2nd period. The Rockets would answer with two goals which tied the game 3-3 halfway through the 2nd period. Jesse Lowell gave the Rockets there first lead of the game early in the 3rd period. With just under 6 minutes to play, Connor Lind (Marlborough, MA) found the back of the net through traffic to tie the game 4-4.
In the 3 on 3 overtime, it was captain Matt Hayes with his 2nd goal of the game (5th of the season) that gave the Kings the weekend sweep.
Cole Hudson (Tonawanda, NY) finished with 36 saves and improved to 5-2-0 on the season. Tucker Tynan finished with 20 saves for the Rockets.
The Kings return to action Saturday November 10th when they travel to the New Hampshire Monarchs!
