Decatur takes two of three from Detroit

BROWNSTOWN, Mich. - The Decatur Blaze took to the road this past weekend and came home with four of six points in winning two of three from the Detroit Fighting Irish at the Brownstown Sports Center.

 

Friday night, Anthony Beltrame scored two and added two assists, while Scott Wargin also scored two to lead the Blaze to a 5-1 win.

 

Liam Miles also scored and Remy Champoux (pictured) made 46 saves in goal.

 

The following night, TJ Dougan scored both and Champoux turned aside 35, but the Blaze fell 3-2.

 

Then Sunday, Wargin tallied a goal and two assists to lead the Blaze to a 6-1 win, taking the weekend series as well.

 

Cameron Bernard made 29 saves for the win in goal.

 

Dougan scored two goals, while Carter Smith had three assists and Alek Lorsung, Miles and Artem Alekhin added single goals.

 

Decatur next plays this coming Friday and Saturday at the Decatur Civic Center against the Chicago Cougars. Game times are 5 p.m. Friday and 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
