Congratulations to our trio of Players Of The Week representing the USPHL Premier’s Southeast and Florida Divisions. All of these players’ skills were on full display at the USPHL Florida Showcase, in Tampa, Fla., which ran from Dec. 14-17.

Forward: Brandon Osmundson, Hampton Roads Whalers.

Osmundson (‘98/Chesapeake, Va.) helped the Whalers go 3-0-0-1 at the USPHL Florida Showcase last weekend, scoring four goals and three assists for a seven-point weekend. He scored a goal and two assists in the opener against the Florida Eels, one goal and one assist against the Islanders Hockey Club and a goal and two goals against the Florida Jr. Blades, including the short-handed game-winner. He also had a shootout goal in the Whalers’ shootout loss to the Richmond Generals.

Osmundson leads the entire USPHL with 25 goals and 43 assists for 68 points through 29 games.

Defense: Aaron Szalankiewicz, Atlanta Jr. Kings.

The Atlanta Jr. Kings went 3-1-1 in Florida, and the ‘98 out of Louisa, Va., had much to do with their success. Szalankiewicz scored the overtime game-winning goal on Saturday against the DME Swamp Rabbits in the USPHL Premier Game Of The Week. That was his second goal of the game. He also had two assists in their opener against the Islanders Hockey Club, and one assist against Potomac.

The fourth-year USPHL veteran has 18 points this season through 30 games.

Goal: Aidan Richardson, Richmond Generals.

Richardson (‘98/Pittsford, N.Y.) stopped 64 of the 67 shots he faced in his two appearances at the USPHL Florida Showcase. Against the Tampa Bay Juniors, he stopped 33 of 34 shots in 50 minutes. The next day, he faced the top team in the USPHL Premier, the Hampton Roads Whalers, and stopped 31 of 33 shots in regulation, and five of six shots in the shootout.
